2 Months

Dear Lilah,
Happy two months B.G.!! While you were still in my belly we affectionately referred to you as Baby-Girl; once you arrived we shortened it to B.G.! Your father also calls you Lilah-Bean, Bean, or sometimes Beano ☺
You have grown so much this month. You are quickly approaching the 11 pound mark! I officially put away the remaining newborn clothes and you are quickly filling the 0-3 month clothing! You have grown so strong as well; you can hold your head up for quite a while before you get tired. You can also easily follow our faces and the sounds of our voices.
Mornings are still your favorite time of the day! You greet us with your laughter and big goofy grins! This month you started sleeping through the night a full 6-8 hours before waking up to nurse. Even swaddled, you manage to wiggle your way out of your little snuggle nest and wind up cuddling next to me all night. I sleep with my nose nestled in your little head full of hair. I can’t seem to get my fill of that sweet smell.
This month Gam and Grandpa Ron flew in from Florida to meet you. You were such a ham the whole weekend; you kept the entire family entertained. This month you got to meet all of the animals at Grandpa’s house; you pet the horses for the first time! You also took your first road trip this month. We drove to Dallas for Meme’s family reunion. You rode in the backseat with Nana and never fussed the whole way. You didn’t mind being passed around and toted by every old granny on the block at the reunion. Nana called you a superbaby because you were so good! Daddy even made you a cape (but after flying around the living room, you spit up on it!) This month we decided that you are exactly like your Uncle Garrett; you two are peas in a pod! You both love sleeping and eating! You two are good napping partners as well. Last week, Daddy and I took you to your first movie (The Hangover; when you are 18 you can look it up) You didn’t make a peep; you pretty much took turns between napping and nursing the whole time. This month we drove downtown to have lunch with Daddy and his friend Roy; we went to Ruggles, our favorite lunch spot, in Rice Village. I can't wait until we can spend the day shopping together then talk about it over sweet potato fries and pastries at Ruggles!
You and I are finally getting our routine down at home. The house isn’t always as clean as it was before you were born, but I am perfectly fine with that. Sometimes when you fall asleep during the day I have to decide between dishes and laundry or cuddling up with you and the majority of the time I choose the nap! I have the rest of my life to clean the house, but the days where I can nap with you on the couch are limited.
B.G., it is so rewarding to watch you become your own little person! Everyday I feel more and more blessed to be your mom!! I can’t wait to see what the next month will bring us!
Love,
Mom

Celebrate Good Times, Come on!!

This weekend we had many reasons to celebrate!
1) Lilah got to meet her Great-Grandpa Ron and Great-Gam! They flew in Thursday and left today.
2) Saturday was Chris' 24th Birthday!
3) Dave and Lauren were in from Dallas, so the whole family was together!
We had a really great time visiting with everyone; the weather was beautiful so we got to hang out by the pool all day on Saturday. Saturday evening we went to dinner for Chris' birthday and had a really fun time. Little Lilah bean was a total ham all weekend, and had a really great time being passed around from person to person for a few days.
Also, this weekend, I tackled perhaps my most challenging cake to date; here is a picture of Chris' birthday cake that I made. It is a 2-tiered lemon layer cake frosted with lemon buttercream and filled with raspberry preserves. I covered and decorated it with homemade marshmallow fondant that was flavored with lemon. It took FOREVER to make, but was really fun! It was quite yummy as well!!
